How To Drastically Lower Your Bounce Rate?

Defining bounce rate is quite simple, It’s a percentage of visitors who visit only a one page of your website, don’t do anything and then leave your website. There are many different reasons why people can do this. The most likely reason is that they don’t see interesting in your website and decide to try other competing websites. People may also be uncomfortable with your website design, which may reduce the readability and navigation easiness. In general, bounce rate is a negative SEO indicator and Google takes it into consideration when determining the rankings of search engines. Google Analytics dashboard should provide you with enough information about the level of bounce rate in your website. It means that if you have high bounce rate, they you’re doing something wrong with your website.

You should be aware whether there’s readability problem that you need to correct. It is a common knowledge that content is king. It means that your content needs to be informative, unique and good. Because people actually avoid reading thick volumes of books when they search online information, you need to add more adjective to your content – readable. It means that your content should be simplified compared to books, but still provide rich, relevant information for the audience. It means that people will enjoy using your website if they see bullet points, short paragraphs and distinctive titles. Longer articles can be seen as having better quality, but you still need to break them well in bite-sized chunks, so people will be able to absorb information much more easily.

Readability is also assured when your content is free from spelling and grammar mistakes. If people barely understand your content, then you can expect higher bounce rate. Another factor to reduce bounce rate is by using only fresh content for your website. You can’t expect people to become eager, if your content has been reused over and over again by many other website. People love to read something new and fresh, instead of something that they have seen somewhere before. If there’s nothing fresh in your website, then people will head to competing website that offers newer articles. It should be quite easy for you to determine whether a piece of content is already considered obsolete and no longer appropriate for publication. You should give readers reasons to visit your website by regularly offering something new.

There are also various technical issues that can make people refuse to proceed further. Some websites are outrageous enough for preventing users to read the page, if they haven’t interacted with the pop-up. Some people will close the browser tab immediately when they see such obstruction. You need to make sure that people have the easiest experience to read your content and navigate it. You can’t be aggressive to your users and they will leave if intimidated. Despite fast Internet access, your website may also have long load time, if your server-side code and database are not optimized for speedier access.
